OVERVIEW

The Printworks in Preston is the latest development to provide luxury living options for students.

Located on the University of Central Lancashire’s campus, The Printworks is the perfect solution for students looking for independent living in a student environment. The four-storey development comprises of 218 self-contained studios across two separate buildings. The development is the first all-studio student accommodation on the UCLan Campus.

Urban Construct were engaged at RIBA stage 3 and appointed fire consultants, acoustic consultants and building control. The architectural team were novated to Urban and we immediately appointed a structural engineer. A high level cost plan was produced and we worked with the client and the design team to ensure the scheme design was developed in line with the cost allocation.

The first phase includes the completion of Block B which represents 150 studio apartments. Within this phase the drainage works must be completed and an element of the external works to allow safe access to the building. This phase also incorporates the completion of a large retail unit on the ground floor. Phase two includes the completion of Block A and all remaining external works
