At Urban Construct we use Building Information Modelling (BIM) to generate, share and manage information collaboratively with our customers and supply chain.
BIM is a process for creating and managing information on a construction project across the project lifecycle. One of the key outputs of this process is the Building Information Model, the digital description of every aspect of the built asset. This model draws on information assembled collaboratively and updated at key stages of a project. Creating a digital Building Information Model enables those who interact with the building to optimize their actions, resulting in a greater whole life value for the asset.
Through the creation of digital models, we are able to validate and coordinate design information, improve procurement, reduce waste and maximise delivery efficiency to provide cost and time benefits for our clients. Working toward industry best practice, Urban Construct team members have already influenced BIM best practice guidelines across major construction frameworks, in conjunction with other partners. Our Construction Director, Graham Murphy, chaired the North West Construction Hub ‘BIM’ Special Interest Group.
We have developed BIM as part of our way of working and influence design input as much as possible to ensure that REVIT software is utilised across projects as much as possible. We also use the REVIT models with Asta TeamPlan software to create 4D project programmes.
